Virginia Gilstrap – Walking the Camino de Santiago

For over 1,000 years, pilgrims have been walking the Camino de Santiago. Rather than being one single path, the Camino, or the Way of Saint James, is actually a network of pilgrimage routes across Europe which all culminate in the city of Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. In 2018 over 300,000 people completed the Camino and in 2019 there will be even more. Why do so many people describe the Camino as an unforgettable, life-changing experience?
For many years, Virginia knew she would one day walk the Camino de Santiago. That time finally came this spring, and she completed the Camino in June. She shares some of the beauty, mystery, and blessings she received… and which continue to unfold.
Virginia is a retired hospice nurse, and as music coordinator and pianist, is delighted to have been playing music at The Celebration since 1995.
