Tejal Murray, LPCC ATR-BC, is a Counselor and Art Therapist with Alder and Oak Counseling in Santa Fe and Los Alamos (www.alderandoakcounseling.com.)
She taught yoga for many years before becoming a therapist and is fascinated by the integration of spiritual practice and neuroscience. In recent years she has been incorporating the Polyvagal Theory into her therapy work. She will reference the books “Polyvagal Exercises for Safety and Connection” by Deb Dana and “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In her talk she will share how we can learn to be more aware of how our biology shapes our perceptions and ideas, and how we can develop more resilience in these difficult times. Deb Dana describes resilience like this: “Resilience emerges when, either in perception or in reality, there are more resources than stressors.” Tajel will offer some ways to help you to navigate periods of agitation or shut down with more compassion, and access resources that will increase your sense of safety, connection and joy.
